Dover Rug & Home Hosts ArtWeek Event!

We are pleased to host “Beyond the Canvas: Inspired Ideas from Floors to Walls” on Wednesday, October 1st from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at our brand new Boston showroom 390 Stuart Street Boston, MA 02166. The event is part of ArtWeek Boston, an initiative of the Citi Performing Arts Center, whose mission is to be a champion for nonprofit innovation in Boston and provide arts and entertainment to the greater community. ArtWeek Boston is a biannual celebration of the arts and allows arts patrons of all kinds to have a unique curated experience.

In collaboration  with Connie Kolman of Kolman Artisan Glass, our event shares tips on how to push the limits of decorating with fine art and rugs. After all, how do you define Art?  With so many art forms and no distinct set of “rules,” the options for “art” are endless. We will take you through the process of choosing  “art”  that exists beyond the canvas – from floors to walls. Featuring vignettes of rugs and glass artwork, the presentation touches on color, design, and materials and delves into how unique pieces can work together.  An original piece of glass art, specifically designed to complement a one-of-a-kind rug, will be unveiled.

To further support the art community, Dover Rug & Home and Kolman Artisan Glass will donate 10% of sales on October 1st to Gateway for the Arts, a non-profit organization, providing professional development for adults with disabilities who have talent in art.

This event is free and open to the public, however advanced registration is recommended as space is limited. To register, go to:

Dover-2The rug on the floor and the art on the walls are often the most expensive investment in your home. We often know what we like, but do you really understand why these exquisite pieces are priced the way they are and whether you are making a sound investment?

Decorating with fine art is often a challenge. While rugs are the decorative art for your floors and fine art is the décor for your walls, it is critical these pieces work together to enhance, compliment and complete your desired look and feel to fit your lifestyle and taste. These pieces can also often be the most expensive investment to decorate your home and mistakes can be costly. Featuring experts Mahmud Jafri, CEO of Dover Rug & Home and Jacqui Becker of Jacqueline Becker Fine Arts Consulting Services will demystify the art of decorating with both genres as guests learn the facts on how to purchase fine art and fine rugs; what drives their prices and how to make an educated investment in pieces that will last a lifetime. Vignettes of exquisite carpets and fine art will be on display in classic, traditional, contemporary and transitional styles to further illustrate the discussion. Join in on the discussion and test your knowledge of the price values of each display!
