Area Rugs Give New England Home Individual, Eclectic Style

We have been thrilled with the recently launched New England Home blog, devouring all the great design ideas that won’t fit in the monthly print magazine. It’s inspired us, and we have been helping our own blog readers translate these looks using carpet, area rugs, and custom window treatments with features such as our recent “black is back” post.

While checking out editor Kyle Hoepner’s post about a handsome home in Hingham, we couldn’t get over how the owners, David Ekizian and John Lawler, managed to use so many different styles of area rugs in such creative ways, giving their small living space an eclectic look that really works. From a traditional striped black-and-white rug in the living room to a bold oriental rug in the attic, it’s a great example of how area rugs can give a room personality.

Interior Designer Philip Gorrivan Debuts Fabric Collection

After talking about home fabrics trends last week on the heels of the annual Heimtextil international trade show, we have been keeping an eye on developments in the industry and were charmed by interior designer Philip Gorrivan’s new fabric collection for Highland Court.

Fabrics from the Gorrivan II Collection are debuting this week at the Winter Antiques Show in New York City and being showcased as part of a European salon vignette designed by Gorrivan, who is regarded as one of today’s top interior designers. The fabrics collection is “inspired by curiosities, art, architecture, and the gardens of Europe,” reports The Editor at Large.
